Amish Slaw Recipe

Like the title says, this is an awesome Amish recipe. Amish slaw is a sweet and tangy coleslaw salad for those who prefer slaw without mayonnaise. Try this Amish slaw recipe, hope you like it.

  • 1 medium head cabbage, cored and shredded
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1 tsp prepared mustard
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

Step 1

Place cabbage, onion, and 1 cup sugar in a large bowl. Mix well and keep aside.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, add vinegar, white sugar, salt, celery seed, mustard and oil. Stir well.

Step 3

Bring to a boil, and cook for 3 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and sauce is thickened.

Step 4

Allow to cool.

Step 5

When cool completely,pour this dressing over the cabbage mixture. Toss to coat evenly.

Step 6

Cover and refrigerate overnight for best flavor. Amish Slaw is ready to serve.
