    • 2 cup dried yellow split peas (Moong dal)
    • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
    • 1 small size finely sliced onion
    • 1 tsp red chili powder
    • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 5 black pepper
    • 3 cloves
    • 2 cardamon
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 4 curry leaves
    • 1 tsp gram masala powder
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice
    • 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
    • 1/2 tsp garlic paste
    • 1/2 tsp cumin
    • 2 dried red chili pepper
    • 2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander leaves
    • 2 fresh green chilies
    • Salt to taste
    • 3 tbsp pure ghee (Desi Ghee)
    • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

    Directions:

    Step 1

    Wash and soak dal for 30-35 minutes.

    Step 2

    Heat split Moong Dal and water with red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garlic paste, Until boiling.

    Step 3

    Cook for 10 -12 minutes on a low flame.

    Step 4

    Now add tomatoes, green chopped chilies and cook until dal is tender and thickened.

    Step 5

    Add more water if necessary, to prevent drying out .

    Step 6

    To the cooked split add bay leaves, lemon juice, salt and gram masala powder and mix well.

    Step 7

    Heat oil in a small pan, add thinly sliced onion and fry till golden brown.

    Step 8

    Now add this fry onion with oil pour in dal.

    Step 9

    Heat pure ghee (Desi Ghee) another pan. Add cumin seeds, cloves, black pepper, cardamon, curry leaves, dried red chilies, garlic chopped cloves, and saute for 2-3 minutes on a very low flame.

    Step 10

    Now this tadka (Baghar) pour on Moong dal.Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves.Moong dal is ready to serve.

    Chana Dal Gosht Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 500 gm bhuna gosht
    • 350 gm chana Dal
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1 tsp chilli powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala
    • 2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander
    • 2 green chilies chopped

    Instructions

    Method

    • Wash dal in few changes of water until water run clear then leave to soak in cold water for about one hour.
    • Drain dal and keep aside.
    • Prepare bhuna gosht.
    • Add dal, salt and chili powder. Mix well and pour enough water to cover dal by one inch.
    • Cover with tight fitted lid, reduce heat.
    • Cook for 30 minutes or dal is tender and about one cup of water is left.
    • Add garam masala, coriander leaves and green chilies. Chana Dal Gosht is ready to serve.

    Serving Suggestions:
    Serve with Nan, Roti or plain boiled rice.

    Soak rajma, urad daal and chana dal overnight.

    Pressure cook the urad dal, chana dal and rajma.

    Mash them a little. Keep aside.

    Heat butter in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and fry until they splutter.

    Add ginger and chillies.

    Fry for few minutes.

    For Garnishing:

    • 2 green chillies, thinly sliced

    Wash split Bengal gram and soak for at least 1 hour.

    Step 2

    Peel bottle gourd and cut into 1/2 inch cubes.

    Step 3

    In a skillet, add salt, turmeric powder,red chilli powder,coriander powder, bottle gourd, split Bengal gram and 4 cups of water.

    Step 4

    Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Cook over medium heat for 1 hour or until done.

    Step 5

    Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add onion and cumin seeds. Saute for 1 minute or until translucent.

    Step 6

    When they change color, add asafoetida, ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

    Step 7

    Then add tomatoes and cook until soft and pulpy.

    Step 8

    Now add boiled Bengal gram and lemon juice; stir occasionally.Cover the lid and simmer for 4-5 minutes.

    Step 9

    Sprinkle Garam Masala over it.

    Step 10

    Garnish with coriander leaves and green chilies. Lauki Chana Dal is ready to serve.

    There are many ways of making dal palak. This dal palak recipe is a very simple and easy one and won’t take much of your time. This is a very healthy recipe. Even though this requires very minimal ingredients, it tastes very delicious and flavorful.
