Sweet Cornbread _ A rich, sweet, cake like cornbread made with cornmeal, sour cream, egg, milk, butter, flour,sugar and baking powder. Sour cream makes it nice and moist. This cornbread goes well with just about anything.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degree F. Lightly grease a 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Set aside.
  • Place flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
  • Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine together egg, milk, butter and sour cream.
  • Stir this mixture into flour mixture just until moistened.
  • Pour this batter into the greased baking dish.
  • Place baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Sweet Corn Bread is ready to serve.
