These fried wontons are like an Asian-inspired snacks or appetizer. Wontons have variations in textures, some are inform of a dumpling but fried wontons are served best as a snack. It can be best appetizer at parties and pot-lucks. You can fill wonton wrappers with anything fillings you desire, including cheeses, any meat or vegetables.
These meaty, hearty and delicious chicken wontons can be served with a variety of sauces or dips.Your family and friends will absolutely love the crispy Fried Wonton.

- 500 gm ground chicken
- 6-8 dried mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2-3 leaf bok choy, finely chopped
- 1 spring onion,finely chopped
- 1 tbsp chopped ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- salt to taste
- oil for deep-frying
- 48 wonton wrappers
Wipe any dirt off the mushrooms.
Soak in warm water for 20 minutes or until softened then squeeze out the excess water and chop.
Wash and shred the bok choy leaf and set aside.
Wash and dice the green onion and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken with the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and salt.
Add the lightly beaten egg and the vegetables mix well. This is the wonton filling.
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
While the oil is heating, prepare the wontons.
Lay a wonton wrapper in front of you.
Place a teaspoon of the filling in the middle.
Fold up the wonton so that it resembles a nurse’s cap, wetting the edges to seal.
Add the wontons to the hot oil, a few at a time, sliding them in carefully.
Deep-fry the wontons in batches until they are golden brown, turning to make sure they brown evenly.
Remove from the oil and drain on paper towel. Chinese fried wonton is ready to serve.
- As with egg rolls, wontons should be served as soon as possible, to ensure they remain crispy.
- Serve with Sweet and Sour Sauce.
