    • 300 gms Moong Dal
    • 25 gms Chopped Coriander
    • 5 gms Cumin Seeds
    • 1 Star anise
    • 8 – 9 Green Chillies chopped
    • 50 gms Onions
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil to fry

    Step 1

    Soak the moong dal in water for a couple of hours.

    Step 2

    Grind it properly to form a smooth paste.

    Step 3

    Blend it with chopped onions, chillies, coriander and cumin seed.

    Step 4

    Check the salt seasoning and deep fry till golden in color.

    Step 5

    Remove from oil and drain on kitchen paper. Moong Dal Pakora is ready to serve.

    Punjabi Dhaba Dal is the restaurant style Indian Dal recipe. This is a very comforting dal for a hot summer day. Urad dal is stickier and heavier than other dals, so this is a thick-style dal.

    This recipe make 8 serving(s).

    Ingredients:

    • 1/4 cup red kidney beans (rajma beans)
    • 1/4 cup chana dal
    • 1/2 cup urad dal
    • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
    • 4 green chillies, chopped
    • 8 garlic cloves, minced
    • 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
    • 2 onions, finely chopped
    • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 3 tbsp butter
    • 1 tbsp cumin powder
    • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tbsp kasoori methi
    • salt to taste

    Method:

    • Rinse urad dal, chana dal and kidney beans with few changes of water.
    • Then soak in sufficient water for at least six hours.
    • Drain.
    • Place dals and beans n a large skillet or pot.
    • Add 6 cups water and cook for 1 hour or until lentils are tender.
    • Heat oil in a large pan over medium high heat.
    • Saute garlic for 2 minutes or until golden brown.
    • Add onion and stir fry until its turns golden.
    • Stir in green chilies, tomatoes.
    • Cook for 5 minutes or until tomatoes are soft.
    • Season with red chilli powder, cumin powder and salt.
    • Add boiled Dal. Stir well.
    • Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until cooked thorough.
    • Add kasoori methi and stir well.
    • Transfer into a serving bowl.
    • Sprinkle with coriander leaves.
    • Delicious Punjabi Dhaba Dal is ready to serve.

    Serving Suggestions:

    • You can serve with chapati with some chopped onion, tomato, and cucumber salad on the side for crunch.

    • 1/2 cup clarified butter (desi ghee)
    • 1/2 cup khoya
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 2 green cardamoms
    • 4 tablespoon sugar or to taste
    • 10 Cashew nuts, broken
    • 10 Pistachios, chopped

    Step 1

    Wash and soak the lentils for 30 minutes.

    Step 2

    Drain out water and grind into a rough paste.

    Step 3

    Heat ghee in a deep pan over medium heat.

    Step 4

    Fry the lentil paste till light golden in colour.

    Step 5

    Put the sugar and water to boil in another pan.

    Step 6

    Stir continuously till the sugar dissolves completely.

    Step 7

    Boil rapidly for 5 minutes.

    Step 8

    Add to the fried daal. Cook, stiring vigorously till the mixture becomes thick.

    Step 9

    Add cardamom powder and stir well.

    Step 10

    Dish it out. Garnish with khoya, cashew nuts and pistachios. Moong Dal Halwa is ready to serve.
